MILL & LATHE – TEAM LEAD

MORryde is currently seeking an experienced Machinist to join our team! The ideal candidate will be competent in operating CNC Mills and Lathes and possess the leadership skills to further our team’s success!  They will be responsible for setting up, calibrating, controlling, and adjusting machines while ensuring team members are adequately trained in all aspects of the machining department. 

Hours:

  • 2nd Shift, 1pm – 9pm – Earn a $5/hour shift premium!

Requirements:

  • Must have excellent mechanical abilities

  • Must be able to follow written and oral instructions

  • Able to program and machine parts to specifications using machine tools such as manual or CNC lathes, CNC milling machines, manual mills or drill presses

  • Intermediate knowledge of tool holders, cutting tools, boring bars, fixtures, inserts and other accessories used on various machines.

  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, shop drawings, and specifications in order to select the appropriate machine, materials, tools, and feeds/speeds various metals, and operating conditions

  • Knowledge of the use of precision measuring instruments (ID and OD micrometers, depth gages, indicators, and scales)

  • Understanding of standard tolerance and geometric tolerance interpretation

  • Experience with reading and editing G code

  • Prior experience with HAAS or Mazak machines a plus

Responsibilities:

  • Operate machines, load parts, prove programs, operate controls, set offsets, deburr, and inspect for quality and conformance.

  • Interpret and study manuals, specifications, or sample parts to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished work pieces, sequence of operations and set up requirements.

  • Detect equipment malfunctions or out of tolerance machining, and adjust machine, within capabilities, controls to ensure quality of productions.

  • Communicate with management, production control, quality, and other shop personnel for quality issues and job assignments.

  • Keep equipment and work area clean and orderly and perform basic preventative maintenance functions on equipment.

  • Lead 3-5 operators to ensure productivity, quality and standards are met.
